Sacrum Profanum is a festival presenting 20th century music and the latest. His rank is built by the participation of the best bands performing contemporary music, including Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Klangforum Wien.
Sacrum Profanum combines classical music with other currents. Every year, the program focuses on the work of composers from a different country or cultural sphere. The festival has won the most serious Polish prizes and awards. He also gained the status of one of the most interesting music events in Europe.
The festival began on September 11, the 10th anniversary of the New York City WTC attack. The inaugural concert was given by Jonny Greenwood – musician, composer and multi-instrumentalist, best known as the guitarist of the British rock band Radiohead and Steve Reich – one of the greatest American composers of the 20th century, an icon of American minimalism, by the way celebrating his 75th birthday.
